Arkivet ligger i hjertet af Rådhuset – lige under Borgerrepræsentationens mødesal. Fortiden danner fundament for nutid, fremtid og demokrati. Gennem århundreder har alt fra fotos, folkeregistre og middelalderdokumenter til arkitekttegninger, patientjournaler og politiske forhandlinger fundet vej til arkivet. 

Alt sammen er københavnernes historie. Stadsarkivet sørger for, at alle – børn, unge og ældre – har adgang til historien nu og i fremtiden. 

På arkivet kan du dykke ned i vores fælles historie. Mød medarbejdere fra Stadsarkivet på læsesalen, til omvisninger, foredrag og undervisning eller besøg Stadsarkivets hjemmeside.

Alle er velkomne. På Stadsarkivet hjælper vi dig på vej, hvad enten du søger efter dine københavnske forfædre, gamle fotos fra din gade, dine skolepapirer eller nogle af de tusindvis af andre spændende fortællinger, som findes i arkivet. Det er også din historie.

The City Archives

The Copenhagen City Archives are the city's memory. Here, you'll find millions of documents, protocols and digital archives about city life and development for 750 years. 

The archive is located in the heart of the City Hall - just below the City Council Chamber. The past forms the foundation for the present, future and democracy. Over the centuries, everything from photos, census records and medieval documents to architectural drawings, patient records and political negotiations have found their way to the archives. 

All of this is the history of the people of Copenhagen. The City Archives makes sure that everyone - children, young and old - have access to history now and in the future. 

At the archives, you can dive into our shared history. Meet staff from the City Archives in the reading room, at guided tours, lectures and classes or visit the City Archives’ website.

At the City Archives, we'll help you on your way, whether you're looking for your Copenhagen ancestors, old photos from your street, your school papers or some of the thousands of other exciting stories in the archives. It's your story too.
